My honors year project at Abertay is a joint project with a concept artist. We are hoping to create some scenes for an animated sitcom formerly known as Imagine Harry. Together we aim to improve upon our current skills, as well as learning more about production and the creative pipelines for Animated shows.

After completing the Vivarious project, I was contacted by a member of the team and asked if I would be interested to work as an animator in another team, Fairsoul. After getting a break down of the game which holds similarities to Gmod’s Trouble in Terrorist Town, I felt this would be a fun and interesting project. Although never having worked on weapon or first-person animations, I saw this as an opportunity to learn. However, due to circumstances, I acted as another concept artist until university started up again, and I was to start another project. In due course though, I am hopeful to return and have more of an animation focus.

While comfortable with animation and rigging, I really wanted to start pushing myself in terms of concept art and storytelling. One of my greatest challenges is getting the ideas I have in my head out on paper, so for my third-year development project, I decided to dedicate my time to creating an in-depth character art development portfolio. My plan was to explore as many possibilities as I could with one character, and have something I can look back on when I feel lost in my own process.

During my third year, we were given the opportunity to work in groups to create games tailored to a client’s brief. The game we created is called Vivarious – The premise of the game is to work in a lab to evolve creatures in different ways and see how they interact with the enclosure around them. In this team I was primarily an animator, however, I was also a concept artist and did work with sound/music.
